    3. Thank you for this info... I usually hesitate using Denissen's book because of all the spelling errors --- he anglicized all the names using a formula that was mainly his so it is sometimes difficult to figure out what the real name was. The Detroit Genealogical Society once considered trashing his book but decided that it was a valid research tool even with all the errors and spelling mistakes --- a tool to point where to look. Some easy names to figure out are: John Baptist = Jean Baptiste Mary Joseph = Marie Josephe or Josephte Andrew = Andre Geneva, Geneveva = Genevieve Angelica = Angelique (rare does a French name end in "a") (note I said RARE.. not NEVER) Anthony = Antoine or Antonio Lucy = Lucie DUBAY = DUBE But then we encounter Philip... I've found these to be Philippe, Philias, Philedelge, Philemon, Phileon or Philbert. Then there's James... Can be Jacques or Jamire. Joseph can be Josaphat, Jose, Josephin, or any other male name that he couldn't divine an English equivalent. And Nelson... Usually Narcisse but can be Naroise, Narcoise, or Naripe And Herman can be Hermel, Hermenegilde, Hermenez, Hermentin or Hermes. Elijah can be Elias or Lias, Eliphe, Elis oe Elizee I once had a copy of Ste-Anne's Répertoire and also Assumptions that I could cross-reference with but they went with my ex-wife in the divorce. <sigh> Have a GREAT weekend...........
