Hello Listers - Larry, this is probably best directed at you since this is your neck of the woods! I have recently discovered an ancestor of mine worked for Aitken as a boatman at Sandy Lake and was killed by a Leech Lake Indian called "the Nut" in 1822. I was wondering if anyone has any information on Aitken's post records that might be of help to me in tracking down this ancestor. His name was Hippolyte Rhel, Relle, Rielle. I am trying to verify he is the father of my ancestor who was brought to live at the Sault after he was killed. I would also like to verify any possible siblings. I doubt I will find a name for the Indian woman who was his mate, but you never know! Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks! Terry
