    3. Aanim: Yes, special case enrollments start January 3, 2005. For example: 1. Were adopted as minors into non-tribal households and were not aware of ancestry until adulthood. 2. Did not have Biological fathers named on birth certificate and ancestry is traced through paternal ancestry. 3. Were listed on parents' enrollment applications as minors, but proper documentation to become enrolled members prior to reaching 18 years of age was not submitted, or individuals born after parents' original enrollment dates and were not listed with other siblings on parents' applications. 4. Were prevented from enrolling due to being on active duty in the U.S. military at time of roll closure. 5. Were placed in foster care, orphanages or other out-of-home placement as minors. 6. Have family members such as fathers, mothers, siblings, grandparents, aunts or uncles enrolled in the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. 7. There are also unspecified instances that may qualiify one for special enrollment. These situations do not guarantee enrollment. Each special case exception will be reviewed and approved or denied through the special needs enrollment committee. Final decisions will be made by the tribal board of directors. Megwetch, Paul E.
