Charles -- would you happen to know if there is a GEORGE A. SMITH on any of the Oneida rolls? Also looking for PACKARD (Picard, Pacaud, etc) or CLOUGH (Cluff, McClough, etc).......... Thank you..... Juanita
The Alice Smith I have is a name on my great-grandmother's marriage license from Clare County, Michigan in 1873. She is not Nancy Alice Smith's mother. I am presuming that she might be a sister, or cousin. Nancy shows up in a white household with three siblings in Ionia County (1870 Census). At a time when whites did not name their first born child "Osceola" Alice Smith sticks out. I do not personally know any of the Smiths and all knowledge of the Smith's ended when my father died. The only information I have on Nancy Alice Smith is that she absconded from Osceola County in 1895 according to court documents. Hope this helps. HI Charles, Just curious about your Smith's in Ionia County. Where in Ionia County were they? My Smith line, of which I know very little at this point, could be found in Orleans Twp. around that time. They were originally from Allegany Co., NY and settled in and around Montcalm, Gratiot, and Ionia Counties. Thanks, Kim
