There seems to have been a misunderstanding over my earlier posting. I am trying to verify a family story, for a friend. Thomas Scott, an Orangeman, bc1843 in Ireland was living in Belleville Ontario in May 1969.In late summer of 1869, he went west, hoping to make the goldfields. He stopped at Red River for work, to make some money, and found employment building the Dawson Road. Between Dec 7 and Feb 27, 1870, he was in and out of jail. He was ordered executed by Louis Riel who had him shot March 4, 1970. My friend believes that Sarah Little Deer Scott was his metis wife(?). Apparently she is buried near Parry Sound, Ontario. Given the small window of opportunity( Fall of 1869-Feb. 5th 1870) it's not likely that there could have been a relationship that resulted in the birth of a child. I'm working on proving or disproving the theory. There is a Sarah Scott died 1900 near Parry Sound. I will order in her death registration for clues. However, registrations in that era lack much identifying information. Helen
