I am in total agreement about our heritage and lack of information available to the public on our anishinaabe language. I have just moved here less than a year ago in hopes of learning my language and becoming an active member of our community and the ways of our people. I am now a member of the Elders Language Advisory group and very proud to tell you that we are now in the process of making and having available audio tapes with our language available to the public, and libraries. We are also trying to have the language taught in the high schools here also, which looks to be very promising. We have a class every week with 2 teachers who do it in total emmertion, which is really great and not hard to follow. I should mention that I am a member of the sault ste. marie band of chippewa, and our classes are going to be available in all seven counties. Its a great start, hopefully I'll have more news as the audios become available. Thank you for allowing me to comment on this. Animikii Ikwe (Thunder Woman) also known as Donna
Thats great, WE did a pipe making class on Sugar Island a few yrs ago. They had a culture camp there. Will the language tape be interactive?
