I have a question. In searching for the surname of 'Homesky', I have seen a reference to a Chief Mozojiid / Mozojeed (d/ 1839), who is supposedly the father of this Michael / Mitchell Homesky. I have not been able to find any other reference to this Mozojiid, except in Schoolcraft's Memoirs, where he is casually mentioned. He was referred to as "Chief of Lac Courtorielle" and "Ojibwa chief of Ottawa Lake" His name is awfully similar to Mongozid/Loons-Foot, could there be a connection? Joyce W

My Grandfather as one of Mitchell HOMESKY's and Theresa Wabanokwe's children. My grandfather's name was "Gijigons", Louis HOMESKY, born about 1837, died in the month of October, 1933. Married Waa ban i kwe or Eliza (Theresa). Her parents were Ganimiiwe and Angekwe (meaning Angel woman). Mitchel and Eliza had five children: Susan HOMESKY (Scott), Dan HOMESKY, Madamin Mary HOMESKY Jane (Jenny, Ester) HOMESKY, and Louis "Gijigons" HOMESKY [see Homesky #2 genealogy] Jane was born about 1848 and married William WETENHALL (who was born about 1838) about 1887. William was a sawmill operator in Hayward. He was also Justice of the Peace in 1891. William and Jane had 10 children: Eva, John, Eliza, Elizabeth (died 1887 at 7 yrs old), Maria (died 1887 at 18 mos.), Julia (died 1887 at 18 mos. old), George (died 1887 at 6 yrs old), William, and Martha Frances (born 3-22-1893 in Reserve WI). William also had a son from another marriage named Peter. His mother's name was Jane ESSICON. Peter was town clerk around 1909. Peter married twice his first wife was Lizzie LIVINGSTON. Her parents names were John LIVINGSTON and Malande LIVINGSTON. His second wife's name was Jesse GURNOE. Her parents were Joseph GURNOE and Teresa CORBINE. Peter kids names were Connie, George Wetenhall (born 6-15-1907), Frances, Charley, Eva, and Archie Elmer (born 12-03-1909) Something to check out. Let me know if it connects for you.
