Alexie grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation in Washington, and later discovered poetry in a writing workshop while in college at Washington State University. The first site presented here is part of the Internet Public Library, and contains a number of links to interviews with Alexie and reviews of his numerous works. The second site is provided by the Modern American Poetry project at the University of Illinois, and contains a number of links to commentaries on Alexie's work, his own reflections on what it means to be a Native American author, and growing up on "the rez."
