Hi..... Thanks so much for your response! The first pair -- Jeanne DeLaTour & Jacques Francois Pontife (or Pontiff or David) are the pair that I thought for years were the parents of Charles. However, apparently Jacques died too early to be Charles' father -- and no one seems to be able to find any grandchildren of the pair. So (unfortunately) this seems to be a dead end. The Charles Pontiff in Louisiana you reference further down (the one with sixteen children) is indeed my forebear. He married Catherine Hauptmann (Hoffmann) and they lived down in SE Louisiana. One of his older daughters, Marie Louise Pontiff, married Jean Louis Exnicios. They are my g-g-g-g-grandparents. Charles Pontiff has resisted virtually all of his descendants' efforts to discover his origins. I'm trying everything I can to find Pontiff records, but still no real luck. Thanks so much for responding... I wasn't familiar with the websites you list, so I'll check 'em out. cheers, Gordon Larry F.
