Hello, I gather from not getting a responce my Duck family question -it was a stupid one. Sorry, just gets frustrating sometimes looking. Just hoping someone might know of my family. Thought I give some more details. "Joseph" Peter LeDuke born abt. 1849 Detroit, Michigan. Assuming his parents died young.... Peter had sisters by the name of Rose, Alice, and Kitty. Might be more siblings??? I was thinking that Rose Laduke age 14 was placed with Antoine Morafa family 1870 Census Detroit, MI. Alice Laduke 1870 Census age 11 St. Vincent's Orphans Detroit, MI. Kitty was said to be married to a Voss - Peter lived with her and ran away at about 12 years old. Peter Laduke married 1. unknown (could be Rose?) unsure Child: Nettie - nickname (could be Edna?) unsure * found Nettie Laduke 1900 Detroit Michigan Census at Mother Mary of Saint Scholastica House of Good Sheperd working in laundry. 2. Selena Sheff (her second marriage also) First marriage said to be Anthony Charboneau. *birth record Mary Adelaide Charboneau birth May 14, 1886 Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Name of Father: Anthony Charboneau Name of Mother: Selena Sheff. 2nd Marriage Record of Mary Charboneau stated Father's name as: Arthur Charbeneau. Children from Peter and who they married 1. Joseph Laduke born 1887 Saginaw, MI died 1954 - Mae Dougherty 2. Joseph Leduke born 1895 Whitefish Pointe, MI - Evelyn? 3. Theodore Laduke born 1892 Manistique, MI 4. Geneveive Germaine Laduke born 1894 died 1957 - LaFernier / Edward Listermen 5. Priscilla Laduke born 1898 - L.J. Berger 6. Madelin Rose Laduke born 1899 - George LaTondress 7. Agnes Pearl Laduke born 1901- Raleigh Daugherty/Dougherty 8. Aloysius John LaDuke born 1903 - Elizabeth Fredrickson 9. Lewis Laduke- born and died 1904 10. Francis Hubert Laduke - born 1909 died 1915 drowned *funeral card Selina LaDuke born August 11, 1862 died November 13, 1948 buried Mt. Olivet Cemetery Detroit, MI. Her sister was Adelaide Sheff married to Francis Goudreau. Selena came from Kent, Ontario Canada related to Thibodeau's also. *Peter worked for the Diamond Match Co. in Ontonagon, MI and fished. For his first paycheck he bought a gun to hunt to feed his family and a newspaper subscription although he couldn't read. Short bio by Alma Swinton. Mrs. Swinton was a doctor's wife and often accompanied Madelin Laduke to her appts. She was sight and hearing impaired and had learned Braile. In 1920 Joseph Laduke and Mae nee Dougherty are living next to an Odelia and Priscilla Leduke. In 1920 George Latondress and Madge are living next to a Claud and Agnes Laduke. I don't have much more just tidbits here and there. I had ordered a death record for Peter Laduke but, I am not sure if I have the right one. That is where the Austin Laduke and Catherine Pelka came in from the last email. Please let me know if anything sounds familiar or if it can be corrected. Thank you. Jo

Jolene: I had some old 1850/1860 census information copied from an old microfilm from many years ago. I did not see the name Duck on it nor Leduc. However, I have researched families in the Alger Co. Michigan area that had the name Laduc in their lineage. My husband had an Elizabeth Leduc, a Mrs. Lamouria, and a possibly cousin had an Emma Leduc. A Mrs. Atherton, who recently passed, had a grandmother Leduc. These Leducs migrated here from Cheboygan, Michigan and before that, Russell Co. Clarence Creek, Ontario. Another Rosie Laduke, maiden name Carrow, from Cheboygan who had children Dorris, Rena, Elmer, and Clyde. I will keep my eye out for Duck while searching records. This probably don't help much but wanted to let you know I looked. The 1870 Michigan Census is free on line. Give it a try http://envoy.libomich.lib.mi.us/1870 and the Cheboygan Genealogical Society is on line.
