Thanks to several of you for the help you're trying to give me on locating information Israel Francis Bernier and others in my lines. Today I located a Francois Bernier b. 1806 at Maskinonge, Quebec, CA. He wound up in the area of St. Paul, Oregon and was busy building a family there at the time my Israel Francis Bernier was born in Maskinonge (1845), but it appears his father Francois Bernier was born abt. 1780 in Maskinonge. The younger Francois have a connection to Hudson's Bay Fur Company here. Of all the men with the Bernier surname who emigrated to the US this is the first I've found from that same community other than Israel Francis Bernier. So, I'm tossing this out to see if anyone knows anything of this family. Thanks to Anita for the idea of getting his Civil War and pension records. I'll get busy on that.
