Not only that! There is still the matter of church records, they had a newpaper then and sometimes things like that were covered and while not required to keep records, some were maintained all the same. I would contact the local historical society about sources other than state records. The Minnesota State Historical Society has the old newpapers, and would maintain at least copies of any old birth, death and marriage records with the exception of what the church holds.
