I am having a hard time finding info for Amos Silas, and need some assistance. This is not the Amos from Pinconning, Bay County, MI. They were both born about the same time but this Amos was in Isabella County. My main problem is connecting him to his birth parents. Amos was killed in a hit and run accident in 1937, (I have the police report and death cert.). I believe his mother was Nancy Elk who died in 1910. She was married to James (Black) Elk in 1892 or (8) I don't have the paper work in front of me and Amos is listed as his step son on the 1900 census. Any help would be appreciated. Second Generation 2. Amos SILAS, born c. 1884. He married Mary _____, born c. 1884. Children: i Thomas SILAS, born c. 1908. ii Eliza SILAS, born c. 1910. 2nd Family (Silas W. line apparently used SILAS as a surname) 1. Silas WAY-ME-GWANSE, born c. 1790 in MI, died 1863. He married Aw-Gwe-Daw-Bun. Aw-Gwe-: 1860 census gives name as Lucy, b. c. 1793 or is this another wife? Children: i Omay-yaw-ge-zhe-go-quay. 2. ii Silas b. c. 1835. 3. iii William b. c. 1838/42/6. iv Jane WEM-E-GONCE, born c. 1839 in MI. 4. v Mary b. c. 1843/52/3. Second Generation 2. Silas WAY-ME-GWANSE Jr., born c. 1835 in MI. He married Paw-Be-Waw-Se-No-Quay KAW-GE-GAY-O-SAY, born c. 1846, (daughter of James KAW-GE-GAY-O-SAY and Oge-she-aw-bun-o-quay). Children: i _____ WAY-ME-GWANSE, born c. 1867, died c. 1867/8. ii Grace SILAS, born c. 1886 in MI, died 21 Feb 1899 in Nottawa, Isabella Co., MI. Unsure this is the right Silas WAYMEGWANSE, because of the gap in births of sibs. Perhaps she is from a second marriage as no mother is listed on DR. 3. William WAY-ME-GWANSE, born c. 1838/42/6.
