I have copies of the all the testimonies given by numerous people and no one said anything about Louis having another wife, or a daughter by the name Jospehine. I just can not figure this Josephine. 3. Joyce I have not seen a connection to Chief Monzojiid. I did find the following obit: 3-1-2000 Philip L. Homesky, , Philip Homesky was born May 23, 1921 in Reserve, WI, the son of Dan and Angeline (Beauregard) Homesky. Philip was married to Betty Conger on Dec. 22, 1956 in Hayward. Philip is survived by two sons, Charles "Bud" (Faith) Homesky, Webster, WI and Paul Homesky, LOC; and seven daughters, Bertha Sam of LCO, Darlene (Glen Sr.) Jackson of LCO, Delores (Marvin) Bowstring of LCO, Sheila MeShane of Hayward, Cheryl Homesky of Eau Claire, Cindie Homesky of LCO, and Mary (Dan) Bilkasley of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and his parents. Tribal rites were held following a feast beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 at the Reserve Elderly Center. Military rites were accorded by the LCO Veterans. Visitation began after 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Reserve Elderly Center. Interment was in Whitefish Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers were Glenn Jackson Sr. and Bryan Sam. Casket bearers were Kenny Tainter, Cevin Gauthier, Brian Nickence, Gary Gouge, Randy Cadotte and Rick Omdahl. The Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Larry Friend (Black Buffalo) friend@2z.net EDUCA'TION, n. A website listing Indiana Civil War Soldiers 1861 to 1865, http://jerry.vigo.lib.in.us/civilwar/015notes.htm, shows that Private Frank Ralph DeGraff (b.10/14/1835 in Burlington, Vermont, d. 5/21/1911 in South Bend, Indiana) was the son of John Baptiste DeGraff and Mary Salois. His siblings are listed as John B. DeGraff, Joseph DeGraff, Nelson DeGraff, Mary DeGraff Barnard, Julia DeGraff Emery, and Emma DeGraff Chandonia. [L. educatio.] The bringing up, as of a child, instruction; formation of manners. Education comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations. To give children a good education in manners, arts and science, is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties. 3. My g.g.grandfathere was Theophile Lapierre. For certain reasons I think he might be of native American heritage. We have been unable to trace him before Mackinac Island, Mi. around 1836 when he married Marguerite McGulphin. I believe it was on the 1836 Indian census of Mackinac Co. Mi.that two Lapierres are mentioned but gives no first names. In the book"Wisconsin Creoles" it mentions a Ignace Lapierre and his son Francois. Ignace also has a daughter Pelagie. Francois was born about two years before my Theophile which could have made him a brother possibly. Theophile also named a daughter "Pelagie" and I know that children used to be named after an aunt or uncle. Does anyone rtecognize these names and might be able to pinpoint Theophiles parentage . Any help would be appreciated. Carol --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). 3. Cindy - This has bothered me too. My info shows that Frances Navarre was born September 05, 1832, and that Emma DeGraff was born November 25, 1843, so it's unlikely Frances was Emma's mother. I've wondered if Frances Navarre was married to Emma's brother (John) but have found no confirmation of this. I am descended from Emma through her daughter Henrietta "Hattie." Hattie was my mother's maternal grandmother. I'd appreciate any leads on this, since all I have at this point is speculation. 3. Joyce What I have on Beauregard at LCO is: ================== 3-1-2000 Philip L. =========================================== Daniel Homesky, son of Michael Homesky and Eliza Wabanokwe on April 28, 1901 at Lac Courte Oreilles, Wisconsin married Josephine Beauregard, daughter of Louis Beauregard and Agossa. Both are from Round Lake and are White/Indian Mixed. Witnesses are Peter and Josephine Wetenhall with service by Father Chrysotom Verwygst. I believe Peter Wetenhall (F:Wm Wetenhall M:Jane Homesky) is the same as the one who married Josse Gurnoe (F: Joseph Gurnoe M: Therese Corbine) on July 13, 1897 at Courte Oreilles Reservation. Peter may previously have married a Lizzie Livingston in 1893. Color of all married is mixed or Indian. I know these are not what you requested but may help piece the tree together. 2. I am at a dead end and wonder if anyone can direct me further. Jessie May Strokal, a native american child born May 17, 1889 in WI was adopted by bohemian immigrant Joseph and Josephine Strokal. They lived in Masonville, Delta County Michigan and are listed in the 1900 census there. Jessie was baptized at St Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk WI May 10, 1890. She had an older brother who was adopted by another family and possible raised in Canada or so the family has told us. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Dad, before he died said she was of cherokee family. Cant find anything on adoption in WI. Our cousin and I put a picture of her on ancientfaces.com She married Mathew Burns in IL. Thank you for any help Patricia Burns
