    1. [NISHNAWBE] Navarre Line and couture
    2. james mayberry
    3. not sure if this helps but here it goes. for couture i have a claude couture who married cathrine chamberland around 1820-1830 in monroe county and moved to ohio to start a church and mission. it was around the davis-besse nuclear power plant area. sry my files were destroyed in flood in august and havn't recieved my copies yet. as to navarre, try checking with the lucas county library in toledo. i know navarre was 1 of the families that started oregon and jerusalem twsp. its been 6 yrs since i was in toledo so i dont remember the name of the town but its about 15-20 miles east of toledo on the anthony wayne trail (cant remember state route number). there is a museum/library by toledo that has the info on all the families that originated oregon and jerusalem twsp. my mom is still in toledo so i'll call her if anyone wants more info. hope this helps someone.

    3. thx carol, next question is, where is mt. pleasant? the reason why is because i'm not from michigan but ohio and on the east side now(toledo originally). but the chamberlands for me were from detroit and monroe(french town). dates are approximatly 1790-now. starting with joseph chamberland. he is listed in the early families of the detroit river area. have found nothing on his parents or where he originated from. as to larose, i only know that there was a birth in detroit in 1770 and marraige to chamberland in 1790. her name was josephine larose, born to a frenchman larose and native woman.listed w/ joseph in same book as daughter of a savage. her cemetary records say same about parents. i have a direct line filled in to now and back to france through quebec. i am trying to fill in some blanks that are holding some things up. my wife is blackfeet and our children are having a naming ceremony and i need to fill in my back ground for them and our elders. thx, jim --- Carol Lalonde Hamp <carolhamp@voyager.net> wrote: > There are native american chamberlands in the Mt. > Pleasant chippewa Indians. 3. Mr. Mayberry, Can you provide any information about your Larose and Chamberland? There are many people on the list who will be happy to help you, if they can. If you can provide more information, it will give them something to start with. It will also be a token of good faith, that you are willing to share information, and that you have done some of the work first, before asking for help. 3. Does anyone have any info on Willard ST. ARNOLD b.1 Apr 1925 Minnesota or Wisconsin married Patricia Ann BROKAW. His mother was a LALONDE. Also does anyone know if there is another version of ST. ARNOLD or ST. ARNAULD. I have seen SANITINEAU but do not know where this name change would come in at other than phonic spelling. I guess the question here is which ST. ARNOLD starting using the SANTINEAU spelling. Larry Friend (Black Buffalo) friend@2z.net AN'CESTOR, n. 3. Larry - Edward (Eloi) St. Arnauld/St.Arnaud (now days St.Arnold) and his wife, Mary DesCarreaux settled in Baraga Co., MI. I believe that this is where the SANTINEAU surname began to be used (it was spelled as it sounded) - some of the grave markers in the Assinins Cemetery show Santineau and Santinaw. Mary was 1/2 Chippewa, the daughter of Francois DesCarreaux I, a French fur trader, and a Daughter of Chief Waubojeeg I - "White Fisher". Edward & Mary were married by Fr. Frederic Baraga at LaPointe, Madeleine Island, WI on Aug. 30, 1835. They were my husband's 3rd Great-Grandparents. 1. [NISHNAWBE] Blacksmith? father of Hononegah
    2. Looking for father of Hononegah, who married Stephen Mack. Stephen founded Macktown, which is now a forest preserve adjacent to Rockton, Winnebago County, Illinois. Their house is a museum. The High School in Rockton is Hononegah High School and the Middle School is Stephen Mack Middle School. There is some question whether Hononegah was Potawatomie or Winnebago. Many works say Potawatomie, but in his affidavits to obtain "mixed-blood" money from the government, Stephen states that her father was named Blacksmith, and resided at or near the four lakes. He was not sure if Blacksmith was half or full blood Winnebago, but knew that he was at least half. According to Stephen, Hononegah had one sister and three uncles living near Prairie du Chien. The uncles names are Co-no-saip kah (or Little Black), Es tche e she sheek, and Ho ro hon kak. The sisters name was We hun see gah. Another affidavit says her mothers name was Inoquer, a full blood Winnebago woman. Conflicting stories say her father was Chief Gah, Little Elk, or Shabonna. Based on the affidavits of Stephen mack, I tend to discount these names. The affidavits mentioned above are in the book "Neither White Men Nor Indians" by Linda Waggoner. If anyone wants more information on this book please contact me privately. This is one of my brick walls, and any information or leads are very welcome. Thanks Curt (Curtis Benoit Londroche)
