Gary, your message was very interesting to me, because I am trying to find out if Ezekial and Louise ever had a daughter named Elizabeth. She had not been listed among his many children, but that far back, who knows if she was forgotten. What I am really trying to find is the Elizabeth who married Ambrose R Davenport about 1795 to 1798. He was in the US army stationed on Mackinac Island. Both Ambrose and Elizabeth lived on the Island until they died. Two of their sons, Ambrose, Jr. and William were in the fur trade and married Chippewa women out past the west end of Lake Superior. I will appreciate hearing from you or anyone else. Lee Edwards
Miigwech, I added this info to my database, as I am not directly related to her, but at one time thought she was one of my grandmothers. Tracy - all I have on Amable is the birth record of his son Henry. It reads, (translated from French), "Henry Dusang born the 18th of December 1824 of legitimate marriage of Amable Dusang and of Sophie Solomon was baptised the nineth of September 1825. Godfather was Henry Fleury and godmother Lisette Salomon." Amable signed so he must have been educated. This record comes from the St. Anne's of Detroit Exterior parish record from Drummond Island. Hope this helps. Terry
I suggest you check out the name "Ducette or Doucette" it may be another spelling. Many spelling mistakes were made in our ancestor's names. Good luck. Hi All I sent Lorraine the message below and thought I should copy this to the list. She has been researching Bouche which brought up 9 hits but by searching for Bouché, there were 3 additional hits. Some interesting reading when you find family in it. The actual web page to search from is: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/lhbumquery.html scroll down to the Search Full Text area. Click on New Search, when this page comes up scroll down to Search Full Text: then enter Bouche (9 hits), Bouché (3 hits), etc. I have been away for the last week and just got home. I think you will enjoy doing different searches on this site. While Charles Melanson and Marie Dugas are direct line to me as 8th great grandparents I have not really researched them yet. I did find an impressive page to Melanson line at: www.gregor.ca/Acadia/Melanson/melansons-gen1.htm a search for MELANSON "Pierre LAVERDURE" came up with 164 hits on google.com a search for 1616 "Abraham DUGAS" came up with 242 hits on google.com The info does seem to be correct. Hi..... Thanks so much for your response! The first pair -- Jeanne DeLaTour & Jacques Francois Pontife (or Pontiff or David) are the pair that I thought for years were the parents of Charles. However, apparently Jacques died too early to be Charles' father -- and no one seems to be able to find any grandchildren of the pair. So (unfortunately) this seems to be a dead end. The Charles Pontiff in Louisiana you reference further down (the one with sixteen children) is indeed my forebear. He married Catherine Hauptmann (Hoffmann) and they lived down in SE Louisiana. One of his older daughters, Marie Louise Pontiff, married Jean Louis Exnicios. They are my g-g-g-g-grandparents. Charles Pontiff has resisted virtually all of his descendants' efforts to discover his origins. I'm trying everything I can to find Pontiff records, but still no real luck. Thanks so much for responding... I wasn't familiar with the websites you list, so I'll check 'em out. cheers, Gordon Larry F. Fourth Generation 10. Louis MOTIN married Marie DESALINS. 11. Marie DESALINS. 12. Pierre LAVERDURE was born in Écosse. He married Priscille MALLISON on 1630. 13. In 1784 he married Anna Barbe Kerner, the daughter of German immigrants. - 18 July 1786: Pierre bought a 5-arpent farm (bounded below by Charles Pontife and above by Christian Charles Smith) for 900 piastres. Does anyone on the list know of any upper Midwest Pontiffs (or David dit Pontiff), probably of Quebecois origin? I'm looking for another of my lost-in-transition ancestors, Charles Pontiff, probably b. in the 1740's. I suspect from Quebecois records that he might have been David dit Pontiff. Sorry Emery A.Iliff, there is no research envolved on my part just a misplaced brain as I read the Hooper notes I did not have my comprehension in gear as I had heard previously from "old" people in the Eastport area that they thought his village was Potawatami and the one in Eastport, Old Antrim and Norwood were Ottawa. But, I guess they were wrong and I was wrong not to pick up on Hooper's notes. Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: "Emery A. No offense taken. My grandmother, Myrtle Clarisa Boyce Robinson, would have fit in perfectly in Oneida, Wisconsin. I am currently an Oneida employee wondering why I look like all the Smiths in the tribe. "Emery A. No offense intended, my ancestors were traced back to Montreal, 1800, to my grandmother, Kewadin's grand daughter in Michigan.
