I did a quick 1860 census search of the Kansas Territory on ancestry.com and could find no Joseph Bertrand, even by soundex, around that age. In fact I could not find a Joseph age 65 to 75 with a name anything close to Bertrand. Larry Friend (Black Buffalo) niidji@mchsi.com -----Original Message----- From: James P. Am searching for the birth record of:Antoine Morrisseau b. 1772 Detroit. Have searched St. Anne's, the records on the internet, can't find the record. His dad, Pierre was in Cadillac's Detroit in 1706 and uncle, Jacques, owned land in that area in 1707, so all of the families were there for awhile anyway. If you could help, would sure appreciate it. Thanks, Dodi
Hi All, I am digging out of my snow bank and getting interested in doing family research work again after having 2 strokes and losing 85 lbs. They can't keep a good woman down!!! :) As many of you know I have been working on the Mary Levake/Louis Lajoice line for many years. With the help of some very good researchers in the downstate Michgian area, we have come up with her line. We are meeting this week in Lansing to further several other surnames. Jim Lalone is graciously offering his home for us to meet this Thursday. I feel very blest to be alive and to work with this fine group of researchers. Sharing and caring is what it is all about in genealogy and in life. I give this information on the Mary Levake line in hopes of connecting with other descendants who are also researching this line. Are there any stories of children adopted by non native americans? We know from tradition that Jessie Strokal was native american adopted by Joseph and Josephine Strokal in WI. She was baptized at St mary's catholic church in Tomakawk WI and grew up in Masonville MI. Her picture and baptismal record are on ancientfaces.com. WI cant find any records of her adoption and we are at a dead end. She was about a year old when adopted and were told she had an older brother who was adopted by another family possibly canadian. Any help is appreciated. Pat Burns

Has anyone researched the Joe Crushier #1134 from Sault Ste. Marie, MI on the Chippewa Indian Rolls. There is also a Mrs. Charles CRUSHIER on the Indian rolls and there is a J.B. CROCHIERE listed as a parishioner of the Catholic Church in the Sault, ca 1800's. Are all these people related? Any information, please contact me anelson1@jamadots.com
