Here is what I know as fact: Archie's father was Alexander Condy per 2 different branches who just knew. Archie must have been one of the older children, while Hamilton was much younger according to census records and ship records. Archie was born in 1848, and he married a cousin Mary Wood. Mary, her sister Margaret and Archie came over on the same ship. I am assuming they were married in Illinois as that is my grandfather's place of birth. Then they migrated west to Big Springs, NE where they homesteaded and are buried. Secondary verification came from an interview of another branch of the Condys. She provided names of siblings, one of which was her father, Hamilton who came to the states at the age of 15. Many of the future generations bear the namesakes of Hamilton, Alexander, Samuel, George, and Edward. During this taped interview, Aunt Blue mentioned many of Mary Wood's siblings, Rev. Samuel Wood, etc. and said they resided in York Co., NE and I have verified that Rev. Samuel died in the 1880's. I found Samuel, Gertrude his wife, daughter S. W. and sister Margaret residing in 1880 Census south of York in Sutton, NE. Margaret is listed as the sister of Rev. Wood. When we went to Big Springs, NE for a funeral, Isabella Wood, an old maid per Aunt Blue's audio tape, is buried not far from Archie and Mary. Mary was born in 1847 and Isabella Wood was born about the same time.(sorry cannot access my data as I am logged on under grandson's user ID) When I called the cemetery office, I was told that Isabella Wood's parents were Samuel Wood and Jane Wilson. She was not sure who provided this info but was going to check back in her notes, but thought it came from a descendent of Margaret Wood-McCormick. This ties into info recd over 10 yr ago from an Armstrong in England who had an ancestor Armstrong who married Elizabeth (or Sarah) Condy and the marriage was witnessed by Hugh Wilson, who is supposedly related to Pres. Woodrow Wilson. An Armstrong family homesteaded across the road from Archie Condy's farm. I remember parents saying that they were not direct relation but shirt=tail relation. The informant from England mentioned Omagh and some! thing about being on the border of Co Tyrone and another county. The Drumquin info is questionable and not verified. Another source had relayed info that the Condys were related to Pres. Grant but have been unable to tie my Condys into his tree. Hopefully someone can tie into these tidbits of information and make some connections. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
