He married a Catherine ?, and had several children - William McCutcheon who married Rachel Elder, Claudius (or Glaud or Gloedice) who married Mary Elizabeth Elder in Canada, Catherine, James, John, Esther, and Mary. Claudius and his wife immigrated to Clones, Petersville, New Brunswick in 1841 along with three of his sons and possibly two daughters. Catherine Jr. married a cousin, Tom Magee, also from Co. Tyrone, Ireland, in Canada. Catherine Jr.'s obit in 1895 stated that one of her grandmothers died at the age of 115, her father at 84, and her mother at 89.
