James, his brother, was my grandfather, a garda who worked in Malin, Donegal and then Lough Gowna, Cavan, where my dad was born and raised. Any connections here? Here is the text: MORRIS On my father's side of family - His father was Peter Morris, Legnabraide NTown Stewart. He was married - had 7 sons about two daughters - namely: Peter, Thomas, James, John, Patrick, Bernard (my father), Edward. Mrs. O'Neill (Gortin) and a girl who died in distant past, either in USA or on returning from USA. Four sons, namely Peter, Thomas, James and John, all unmarried carried on farming, died between 1932 and 1943. Patrick, a policeman in the RIC, married, lived in Ballon, Co. Carlow, where some of his family live (1st cousins of mine). My father Bernard married, farmed at Ballykeel and Belnatubbert. His family were (usual names) Peter, James, John, Bernard, Tommy, Patrick, Francis. Girls - Elizabeth (anon died), Annie, Catherine, Agnes, May. DALY On my mother's side of family - Grandfather of mine - Matthew Daly, Belnatubbert, his wife's name believed to be Maynes from Ballinamullin area near Omagh. Believed he came from the Tyrone/Fermanagh area - Pettigo/Belleek, Killeter, etc. Carried on farming but principally engaged in horse dealing. His family were: Son John Daly, married, some sons, California Son James, married, no family, Omagh Son Patrick, went to USA about 1876 Michael to USA Hugh Daly, Bellnatubbert, married, no family died Fintona 1943. Son Frank, married, family of boys and girls in New York 3 daughters: Mrs. Dennis O'Connell, died about 1900 Mrs. Elizabeth Morris (my mother) died 1938 and a girl who died in flood disaster in California in 1906.
