My father (William Neill )was born on 25th Feb 1915 in Benburb (he's still alive) His parents were another William Neill and Matilda Watt they married at Benburb Presbyterian Church on the 2nd August 1910. I have details of their descendants. William Neill (senior) was born in 1884 at Garvaghey his parents were Thomas Neill and Ellen Irwin. Matilda;s parents were David Watt (son of David) a farmer, and Annie Jane Nevill of Drumderg (daughter of Joseph) a carpenter. David and Annie Watt moved to Glasgow during the depression but returned to Tyrone when they retired. My grandparents William and Matilda also moved to Glasgow during the depression and my grandfather was killed at the age of 39 in a shipyard accident. The whole of the Neill family were staunch Orange men. I know that Thomas and Ellen had 9 children: Annie,Minnie,George,Archibold,David,Eleanor,Joe,William and John. I would think that Thomas and Ellen were married in the late 1870's Annie married twice, the second time to Tom Holland,Minnie married Thomas McMullan of Stillago,George married but have no details,Archibold died young,David,Joe and Eleanor did not marry,John married Lily... and had 13 children. I have found that a Thomas Neal married Ellen Irwin on the 8th August 1878 at Moy Presbyterian Church. Although spelling different this could be the one. Any info much appreciated - or a lead as to where I can go from here Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
