I do have one of my relatives that married a Cowan. Alexander born 1774 Ireland married a Rachel Cowan born abt. 1784 Ireland and came to America 1805 or 1812. There were 2 of them and I think mine came in 1812 and settled in Franklin County, Indiana. I know quite a bit about their family after they came to America if you think they are the same ones. My main family came from Fintona, County Tyrone in 1847. Here are their names- John Craigmile b. 1800 Tyrone Margaret Vaughn b. abt 1800 Tyrone James b. 1820 [my G-g-g-Grandfather] Charles b. 1822 Archibald b. 1832 Ann b. 1840 Margaret b. 1831 Elizabeth b. 1825 William b. 1841 They were all born in Tyrone, Ireland My Grandmother and Grandfather on James side was Alexander, too and his wife Alice. They came in 1834 from Tyrone.Their daughter was my g-g-g-grandmother that married James. They were cousins. There are 3 sets of early Craigmiles in America. The ones that came from Scotland, the ones located in Kentucky in mid 1700s [We are not sure whether they came from Ireland or Scotland.] and my family that came in 1830s and 1840s. We just recently had dna tests that came back that we are related to the Kentucky Craigmiles which was a complete surprise. I would really like to have someone that could help with a Craigmile relative from Ireland that might like to help with finding eventually how we connect with the Craigmiles who came over earlier. If your Cowan is the same family, I am very much interested in anything that you might have on them. I live less than 50 miles from where Alexander and Rachel lived and have done exrwensive research on them and you are welcome to anything that I have. Sorry that this is so long. Would love to hear more from you. Thanks. Barb Hall Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
