Good morning list: For those of you who can pull this up, there is a series of interesting interviews from the Roots Web Conference last month. Included in the list of interviews is one with Feargal O'Donnell of the Irish Family History Foundation on Roots Television and with Dick Eastman who conducted all of the nine interviews. I hope you find this series of interviews helpful and as a guide to future research in Ireland. Most of now will drop the IFHF connect and replace it with the now ubiquitous site of www.rootsireland.ie site. This site is now supported by ALL of the church bodies in Ireland including the Anglican Bishop of Armagh and the Catholic Bishop of Armagh at their respective St Patrick's Cathedral. Finally those originally in charge way back when are now fully supportive of this venture. And its 'bi-partisan" in its focus. Feragal O'Donnell is the Manager of the Roots Web center in Armagh. The one thing to remember here is that ALL church records will be placed on their site with no exception. As a result there will be records here that are not available at LDS and there will be records that are currently held in "local custody" that will now be made available to the public. And of course this is a fee based operation. I would recommend that those of you who are interested that you view this interviews for as long as they are available and take notes. The oldest records [ of which there are a few] date from the 1590's. Maybe it will give a bit of background for those who are new to the topic. In a few years RootsIreland.ie will have over 40 million records. This will be an added benefit as 40% of the Anglican records for Armagh were lost and 38% of the Anglican records forTyrone were lost. Enjoy and good luck. At the moment I am currently landing in Munich for Oktoberfest and this comes to you from my laptop and my plug-in in front of me with Lufthansa. Just lovin this new technology. So get yourself a coffe then click on the link below and enjoy. http://rootstelevision.com/players/player_conferences.php?bctid=1792947734 Eric As in all genealogical endeavours, The further back you look, The further back you see, The longer you work for something, The longer you wait for something.
Thank you for this post. I didn't know about either of these sites. I found info that I have been looking for for years and I found the rootstelevision interviews very informative.
