The records that I was able to retrieve by doing census and ship searches narrowed down his departure from Glasgow around 1888-1890, his name was James Haughey and he came to the US. Do you know if any of your family emmigrated here around this time? Originally I had thought he was from Armagh or Tyrone- but none of my searches from the last two years have pointed in that direction. I just assumed the ship 'swung' from Ireland over to Glasgow :)... but now after reading these posts if this makes more sense, the names match and the dates.
