Presume she was a spinster and in some way related to Catherine Mac Dougall as she travelled with her to South Africa in 1906. When Catherine Mac Dougall married James Johnston in 1908 their daughter was named Kathleen Margaret Cowan Johnston - making me feel that Mararet Cowan must have been an Aunt.
