    3. Your story sounds identical to mine. My ancestors headstones read natives of Tyrone also. You must know the town, parish or area that your relatives are from in Tyrone to find out anything. The northern Irish archives suffered a fire in 1922 (?) and the records were destroyed. Therefore going to Parish church records is necessary and you must have more details. What I have been doing is scouring Canadian records for every relative that I am aware of for any clues. A monumental task, but I am making headway. I also found talking to older relatives helpful.......they have more info than they realize. Also, if there are others buried in the same plot as your relatives....search them out as well in the cemetery records. Ancestry.ca has a gold mine of Quebec records right now....worth the small fee. Hope any of this has helped. 3. Carol, You replied to a message that was posted to a message board (note the "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list" in the first line of the message) which was then forwarded (gatewayed) onto a mailing list. Instructions for replying to the posting via the message board are in the "Important Note" added by the gateway emailer. The "gateway" only goes in one direction - from the board to the list. So the person to whose message you replied has not seen your reply (unless they just happened to be subscribed to this mailing list). If you want them to see your reply, click on the message board URL in the original message to see it in the message board, select reply (you may need to log in or register first), then copy and paste your reply and remove any explicit newlines in the paragraphs to allow the browser to flow the text instead of breaking lines at specific points. -- John S Van Essen <vanes002@umn.edu> University of Minnesota Alumnus Baxter Minnesota Genealogy pages: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~vanes002/gen/ On Sun, 9 Nov 2008, Peter and Carol Sprott <psprott@kenora.com> wrote: > Your story sounds identical to mine. 3. I would like to learn more about the the lands and tenants of Sir William Hamilton in the 1600s. What sources should one consult for information about: 1. Location of his estate (Eliston) 2. Tenants in the 1600s, their origins. 3. Any deeds or wills relating to the land and tenants. Thanks, Roy
