My great-grandmother Hannah and your great-grandfather Patrick were first cousins, Patrick's father Frank and Hannah's father Arthur being two brothers. I live in Omagh and have been researching the Owens family for quite some time now, and even got a lot of info from a cousin Sharon Owens who lives in the US. Her great-grandfather was Paddy "Bantown" Owens, sister of my great-grandmother Hannah; Paddy was married to Ellen Nugent (daughter of Pat Nugent & Ellen McCristal). I have counted a total of eight generations of the Owens family; me & Sharon Owens are from the sixth generation. The Owens of Beragh originated from Tempo, and from what I understand, the first Owens man to come to Beragh was a Francis Owens, born 1759, died 1834, who married a woman called Allas ("Ailish") Mullen, and they had at least two sons: Patrick & Arthur. The Owens's in Fintona are also related but I don't know exactly how other than they, like the Beragh Owens's, originated from Tempo. Me and Sharon are great-great-great-grandchildren of Patrick Owens, who married Mary McCrystal. I noticed a lot of Owens married McCrystals, some of whom might have been related to them far out. Some of the Owens families who live in Drumduff, are descended from Patrick's brother Arthur, who married Alice Donnelly. The Owens who live up in Shane & Bantown are related through this line too, as are some of the Grimes and Montague families in Beragh. There are lots of different Owens families round Beragh and The 'Cross, very hard to connect them all up, though I have heard people say the name is not as common as it once was. Take care Joseph Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
