Interesting stuff. Most [read practically all] of the Scots being sent to Ulster Ireland were driven off "their" lands by "their" Lairds to raise sheep. The expulsions were far more severe than anything ever experienced in Ireland. Most of the Scots were from the west half of Scotland which meant that they were Argyle Scots [read ex-Irish] so that it was a home coming of sorts. For many of them though, within years they just kept on going and went to North America, Australia and good'ol New Zealand. From 1798 to 1918 over 350,000 came to Canada from Scotland and in some cases whole Clans packed up and left. Of the Scots that were shipped to Ireland, half of them came to Canada. And God bless each and every one of them, for it was the Scots who built Canada.
