Many people have been looking for many years to find the parents of a few couples leaving Ireland ~1823. Most believe that they were born, raised, and married in County Sligo, Ireland. But no one can track down who the parents were. So, someone recently suggested that the HENDERSON couples might have come from County Tyrone, instead. There were 2 brothers and their wives in the family-group. William and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON and Samuel and Catherine (?) HENDERSON were born in the early 1780's in Ireland. The other people in the group were Patrick and Elizabeth (KERR?) KERR, Miss Elizabeth KERR, and John and Ann (HENDERSON) KERR. They were all born in the 1780 to 1805 timeframe. (Elizabeth married in Canada.) I am descended from William HENDERSON and Patrick KERR through their children who were born in Canada in 1827. I am just starting to look through the archives of the Lists and Boards for County Tyrone to see if HENDERSON families are mentioned. And, I see they are mentioned on this Board. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) (FYI: Robert KERR and Elizabeth HENDERSON, b1827, married in Argenteuil Co., and had 5 children there. Most of the family migrated down to Massachusetts (US) between 1873 and 1893.) (FYI: Someone has suggested that the KERR people might have come from County Kerry, instead of County Sligo. So, I'm starting to investigate that, also.) (However, because there are so many inter-marriages, researchers have decided the family-group knew each other for a long time, and might have come to County Sligo - together.
