Debby, It could be either townland, given that the difference is just one vowel and spelling was not as strict back then -- plus it could be a matter of a different pronunciation and Irish dialects. Do you have any other information to figure out which one? Ticar (Clogher) was 179 acres in size whereas Tircur (Cappagh) was 400 acres - I would imagine that the larger townland would have more inhabitants, but that all depends upon the quality of the land. According to the Householders' Index the HALL surname was present in the parish of Aghlurcher at the time of Griffith's Valuation and the Tithe Applotment. I don't have access to the Householder's Index for the civil parish of Cappagh, but you should check that too. Many libraries have the "Householder's Index" and there are indexes on CD of Griffith's.
