You may already have some of this information. I first located the marriage index for John Booth and Mary Devlin at the Irish Family History Foundation (IFHF) website for County Tyrone. The index shows they were married in the Ardboe Catholic Church in 1845. Ardboe is also spelled Arboe, as is the Civil Parish in which the church was located. The marriage record for John and Mary may include additional information, such as the names of the witnesses to the marriage. The children were baptized in the Ardboe Catholic Church. The names of the children and their years of baptism are Mary Jane (1845); Teresa (1847); George (1854); William (1856); Lewis (1860); and Catherine (1863). You'll notice a six year gap between the baptisms of Teresa (1847) and your great grandfather George (1854). This was probably due to the Great Famine which struck Ireland between 1845 and 1851. Having more children to feed during the height of the Famine would have placed a burden on John to feed his family. To view a sample Catholic Church baptism transcription from the IFHF go to the following link: http://www.rootsireland.ie/index.php?id=samplerecords#baptism According to information found at the IFHF the Ardboe Catholic Church baptisms and marriages are transcribed from 1827-1900. Knowing this, I thought it possible that baptisms for John Booth and Mary Devlin may have also been recorded in the Ardboe Catholic Church if they had been in their mid to late teens when they married. I looked for, but did not find a baptism index for John Booth in the late 1820s or early 1830s. But I did find two baptism indexes, on of which may pertain to Mary Devlin, though without knowing the names of Mary's parents, this is only speculation. I found one index for a Mary Devlin baptized in the Ardboe Catholic Church in 1827. The IFHF baptism indexes do not provide the names of the parents for the child. You have to submit first names to the search engine, to see which names are accepted as the child's parents. The search engine in this case accepted Patrick Devlin as Mary's father and Sara as her mother. I did not find Sara's maiden name. The Mary Devlin baptized in 1827 would have been 18 years old in 1845, while the Mary Devlin baptized in 1828 would have been 17 years old. But again, I'm not sure which, if either of the Mary Devlins would be the future wife of John Booth. You would have to order the baptism transcriptions for both Mary Devlins to find out what the maiden names for their mothers were. While John Booth and Mary Devlin may have been married in the Ardboe Catholic Church, and had their children baptized in the church, they did not necessarily reside in Ardboe itself. They may have lived in one of the surrounding townlands. To see if I could find out where they lived I looked for John Booth in an Irish property tax record known as Griffiths Valuation. Griffiths Valuation was enumerated in the 32 counties of Ireland between 1847 and 1864. The valuation for the Arboe Civil Parish in County Tyrone was completed by the year 1859, the year before John and Mary Booth's son Lewis was born. Unlike a census, Griffiths Valuation did not enumerate individual members of a family, such as husband, wife, and children in a household residence. Those named in the valuation were individuals who leased property. Each person who paid to lease the property was called an "Occupier." The other person listed in Griffiths Valuation was the person who owned the property, or who worked as the middleman for the owner. This person was called the "Immediate Lessor." In many cases, people with the same last names leased property in the same town. If the town were small enough they were probably related. The valuation shows that John leased property in the townland of Killymenagh, Civil Parish of Arboe, County Tyrone: No. and Letters of Reference to Map: 18a Civil Parish: Arboe Townland: Killymenagh Occupier: John Booth Immediate Lessor: Trustees John Mackey Description of Tenement: House, office, and land Area of Land: 17 Acres, 1 Rood, 15 Perches, Rateable Annual Valuation of Land: 14 Pounds, 5 Shillings Rateable Annual Valuation of Buildings: 1 Pound, 5 Shillings Total Annual Valuation of Rateable Property: 15 Pounds, 10 Shillings ____ Griffiths Valuation shows that John Booth leased over 17 acres of land, a house and an "office" from Immediate Lessors who were the trustees for John Mackey. The land was valued at 14 Pounds and 5 Shillings, while the house and office were valued at 1 Pound and 5 Shillings. The total valuation for John Booth's lease was 15 Pounds and 10 Shillings. He would have paid a percentage of the value toward the tax. An office in a Griffiths Valuation record could refer to any type of outbuilding, such as a barn, stable, shed, blacksmith shop, piggery, etc. The number at the top of the Griffiths Valuation entry, 18a, refers to the location of John Booth's lease in Killymenagh on an Ordnance Survey Map from the time period. John Booth is named a second time in Griffiths Valuation in Killymenagh. In this case however, he is the Immediate Lessor for an unoccupied house at Map Reference No. 18b. No land is with this property. He was likely the middleman for the property, rather than the owner. The house was valued at 5 Shillings. He would not have paid a tax on this house, as only those properties valued over 5 Pounds were taxed: No. and Letters of Reference to Map: 18b Civil Parish: Arboe Townland: Killymenagh Occupier: Unoccupied Immediate Lessor: John Booth Description of Tenement: House Area of Land: - Rateable Annual Valuation of Land: - Rateable Annual Valuation of Buildings: 5 Shillings Total Annual Valuation of Rateable Property: 5 Shillings ____ Also leasing property in Killymenagh, at Map Reference No. 25 is a Mary Devlin. She may have been related to John Booth's wife, Mary Devlin. The entry for Mary Devlin shows she is leasing a house, office, and over 9 acres of land from the Trustees John Mackey. The land is valued at 7 Pounds and 5 Shillings while the house and office were valued at 15 Shillings. The children were baptized min the Ardboe Catholic Church. The names of the children and their years of baptism are: John (1834); John (1838); James (1840); Brigid (1842); Joseph (1844); and your great grandmother, Mary Ann (1846). You'll notice there are two baptism indexes for a John Campbell. This indicates the first-born John Campbell had died. But I did find a James Campbell in Griffiths Valuation in the Civil Parish of Arboe, leasing property in the townland of Anneeter More. I believe this entry may refer to your James Campbell. The valuation shows that James leased a house, offices, over 8 acres of land, and shore property from the Ven. Archdeacon Stuart. The "Ven." Stands for Venerable, and probably refers to an archdeacon in the Church of Ireland. The land James leased was valued at 3 Pounds and 10 Shillings, while the house and outbuildings were valued at 15 Shillings. The total valuation for the property was 4 Pounds, 5 Shillings. I didn't find a marriage index for Pat Keenan and Mary Ann Campbell, but like Moren, who replied to your post on March 9, I did uncover a marriage index for John Keenan and Mary Ann Campbell. The first marriage index you see below is from the Latter Day Saints (LDS) website at: https://familysearch.org/search This is a civil marriage index rather than a church marriage index. The index shows that the marriage of John Keenan and Mary Ann Campbell was recorded in Coagh, Tyrone on 22 October 1865. The index further shows that John Keenan's father was John Keenan, while Mary Ann Campbell's father was James Campbell. I found three children in civil birth indexes and church baptism indexes.. These children are John (1866); Elizabeth/Eliza (1869); and Patrick (1874). The civil registration birth indexes for these children were found at the LDS website as well as at the IFHF website for County Tyrone, while the Ardboe Catholic Church baptisms were found at the IFHF website. The LDS civil birth indexes for each child are accompanied by microfilm source information. Only one of the LDS birth indexes, John's, shows his birth was recorded in Stewartstown, Tyrone. The other LDS indexes just specify Tyrone as the place of birth. You can order the films from your nearest Family History Center, or if you prefer, can order the birth records from the GRO in Roscommon Town. Following each the LDS indexes are the IFHF civil birth and church baptism indexes for each child. But I did uncover a John Booth and daughters Mary J/Mary Jane, and Annie/Anna Eliza in the 1901 and 1911 census enumerations for Ireland. I believe these census records may pertain to George's parents and siblings. If you recall, Griffiths valuation had shown that John Booth leased property in the townland of Killymenagh, Civil Parish of Arboe. The 1901 and 1911 census show that John and his daughters were living in Killymenagh. Both census returns also show that John was a farmer and a widower. The 1901 census shows a 46 year old unmarried Susan Campbell as the head of the household in an address of house number 4, Anneeter More. The census also shows that she was a farmer and a grocer and born in County Tyrone. In the household with her is her 74 year old mother Elizabeth, who is listed as a widow. Also in the household is Susan's 11 year old cousin Bridget Devlin, working as a servant. The household also includes a servant, 69 year old widower, Isaac McCann.
