I've had nearly no luck in finding leads to his parents or siblings except that ther are Hoods, Hendersons, McDowells & others probably related. I stumbled across newspaper 'records' from before he was born which include notes about marriages, births, deaths, crimes & 'gossip' if you will, of the day. Can't recall right now how I got there, but think it was through ancestry.com newspaper records. Granted, this would not be official info, but it might help. Best of luck.
