I just returned from a family wedding in California. It appears that the piece of information I need most may be in a gap period between when the RC Church register ended in 1857 and the beginning of Civil Registration in 1864. My 2xg grandfather Michael McGarrity (or McGeraghty) married Sarah [middle name probably Ann] Hughes. First birth registration occurred 14 August 1864, for daughter Mary, born Inishative and registered in Six Mile Cross, Omagh. The later births specify Omagh No. 2, but that detail is not present for Mary's registration. I have retrieved 8 birth registrations from LDS microfilm, between 1864 and 1879 (Mary, John, Catherine, Sarah Anne, Patrick, Michael, Margaret and James). Since Civil Registration for Catholics began in 1864, there may have been earlier children that I have not found.
