I do not have the name of the son. My principal interest is in William Gavin where I have reached a blank in trying to discover his origins. During his military service William Gavin wrote a diary in which he described, in 1810 whilst fighting in Portugal, a chance encounter with a soldier from the 30th Regiment who stated he was the son of Doctor M'Mahon of Omaghrin in Tyrone and his (William's) cousin. Through any connection with the M'Mahon family I was hoping to be able to trace William's origins. The full diary reference is at http://www.waterloodiary.net/william_gavin's_diary_05.html Pigots directory of Omagh in 1824 lists a Bernard M'Mahon M.D. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
