Interesting ... but try to find the lists for 1850 for Port of Derry/Londonderry .... looking for the Macklins from Longford [Londford] and Donegheady [Dunnamangh] as well who in all likelihood went to Quebec/Halifax via the usual Liverpool transit point. My 2nd great grandfather's name in the US records was John Robert McAnall and he was born on Feb 9, 1840. During the 1860s (if not earlier as well), his family lived in Donagheady parish of County Tyrone, in or nearby the townland Moyagh. He was the oldest of 11 children and likely the only one to come over to the US ("parting on the Derry Quay" as a letter from one of his siblings put it). He first shows up on the 1870 census and the 1900 census says he immigrated to the US in 1867. The spelling of the surname varied a lot in Ireland from the records I have found thus far for his parents and siblings: M'Nall/McNall/McNaul/McAnal. Hope that's enough (but not too much) information for you. I really appreciate your help.
