Am currently researching the James McBride family in Co. Tyrone, Ireland. The 1911 census has them listed as follows: County Tyrone, Moorfield, Kinine McBride, James 68 Farmer Roman Catholic McBride, Rebecca 35 wife (married 9 years--no doubt the 2nd marriage) McBride, Roseanne 21 daughter McBride, MaryEllen 8 daughter McBride, Kathleen 7 daughter McBride, Rebecca J 6 daughter McBride, Josephine B. 3 daughter McBride, P P Ignatius 1 son Questions: Daughter Rose Ann was born abt. 1890, who was her mother? Rose Ann immigrated to New York, USA in 1912 aboard the ship Columbia. Ellis Island web site shows her passage being paid by a cousin and states she was going to live with her uncle, Edward Swift of 3rd Avenue New York, NewYork. Her occupation is listed as a servant. In 1914, Rose Ann McBride married Charles William Walker of Co. Sligo, Ireland and they had several children of their own and made their home in New Rochelle, NY. Would love to connect with other Walker/McBride researchers and collaborate. Warmest regards and happy searching! Susan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Without some clues as to where she came from it's a needle in a haystack. (By way of example I searched the 1901 census for the name Catherine Donnelly living in Tyrone, There were 67 of them. That gives an idea of how common the name is locally.) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. As of Edward, I am only going by the death notice of John Patrick Morris as it shows father Edward and mother Leer McDade, but a cousin says father was Owen Morris. I found the Owen Will which does seem to be the one I am looking for possibly other than Edward. PRONI is where I did find it, before writting on here for help. Could you possibly look at Catherine Donnelly, it may lead to the Morris family that way. Thanks again I will look at what you have here. Author: elwynsoutter1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.tyr.general/7439.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Cornavarrow is a townland in Co. Tyrone. It's near Pigeon Top forest and is about 15 miles west of Omagh. The 1901 census has about 5 Morris households there, so that suggests a possible link: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Drumquin/Cornavarrow/ Looking earlier, in 1860, Griffiths Valuation shows a John Morris senior, JM junior, James and an Owen Morris all farming on that townland. There was no Edward Morris (if he was still alive) but there was one nearby in Bomacatall Upper, farming 9 acres. This looks to be him in 1901. Clearly it can't be the Edward born c 1805 but it could perhaps be his son: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Bomackatall/Bomackatall_Upper/1722656/ The normal line of enquiry would be to check parish records for baptisms, but unfortunately the RC parish records only start in 1846 (RC parish of Langfield). I'd probably have a look at the tithe applotment records in PRONI to see if Edward is listed in that parish in the 1820s. There's 5 wills for Morris families in Cornacarrow on the PRONI website: http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar/WillsSearch.aspx You have mentioned Tyrone and Donegal a couple of times. They are two different counties, adjacent to each other. So the info re births in Tyrone, Co Donegal can't be quite right. They were either born in one or the other.
