I am not familiar with any of the names you included but am thrilled to see 28 McPike references on the website you listed. The McPike name seems to be fairly rare, at least in the sources I've been able to access as yet, so I always am grateful when its included in any database or book. My Hugh McPike is said to have left Ireland about 1796 (though I've found no hard evidence to support) but he certainly may be in some way related to this family. I was not aware of Hugh being a nickname for Eugene so that could be important to know also. Unless you have a Hugh/(Eugene) McPike b abt 1760-1790 or Mary Ann Crawford about the same time, or Thomas Pike b abt 1730, in your tree, I don't know that we could tie these folks together just yet. I definately appreciate the information however, and its quite possible further research will determine a relationship. Thanks very much and hopefully we can connect the dots. All I know about William is on my Waterloodiary.net website, but I wonder if you know anything about his wife's family and the lives of his children? I know something of his son Daniel's life and family as I am descended from him. Have recently been to Vitoria for the200th anniversary of the battle in which William was involved Gavinand I will be publishing photographs on my waterloodiary.net website soon. You may also be able to narrow the deaths down to within 10 years by cross-checking with the censuses. So were both John & Mary alive in 1861, 1871 etc? I can see one death of a Mary Murphy nee Johnston in Paisley in 1871, aged 53. (GROS 573/01 0150). The age isn't quite right but in those days it was just the informant's best guess. I've had nearly no luck in finding leads to his parents or siblings except that ther are Hoods, Hendersons, McDowells & others probably related. I stumbled across newspaper 'records' from before he was born which include notes about marriages, births, deaths, crimes & 'gossip' if you will, of the day. Can't recall right now how I got there, but think it was through ancestry.com newspaper records. Granted, this would not be official info, but it might help. Best of luck. Irish ancestry can be A tough nut to crack, but keep at it. Let me know if you find something. Take care, Carla Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There is also a Eugene McPike listed as Baptized in 1836. Hugh is short for Eugene. I have traced the Dullaghn McPikes for a friend. Owen E. McPike 1838-1910, Married Anne McCanney B1850. One of there children Catherine McPike married a Patrick McQuaid (trying to relate back to my McQuaid's). Owen. E. also had a son Named Owen and he named his son Eugene. I am thinking that Owen E. McPike's father was a Eugene (Hugh). If so he would have been born about 1800's. And, that the Eugene McPike listed as Baptized in 1836, is Owen's brother. See: http://www.cotyroneireland.com/churchrecord/dromore_rc_baptisms.html Dullaghn is on the West side of Dromore Parish. Last June I drove from Donegal, through Irvinestown, Fermanagh, to Dromore in about one Hour. My family is from Tummery, Dromore, Tyrone. Leave me a message if you need anymore info. My Ancestry ID is ttmcquaid1. My McPike study is on a private tree. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Antrim on Shankill Road (Woodvale Ward) with a Hill family. He is aged 22, birthplace not given, working as an engine driver which would fit with the railway work that the others did. By the time of the 1911 census, Simpson is living in Co. Leitrim, born Co. Tyrone, aged 34, with wife, Eliza Jane, aged 33, and children, Eliza, and Henrietta Josephine. In 1901, there is a Robert James, aged 28, living in Cloncore, Tartaraghan Parish, Co. Armagh, born in Co. Armagh, a farm labourer, living with his wife, Margaret, and children, Rachel Jane, Margaret, and William D. You would have to find the marriage record to see if you have the right one, as there is another Robert James, aged 32, in County Cavan, but born in County Cavan.
