    3. I am very excited - as only a genealogical geek can be. I have finally finished and posted on my website a 21 page document complete with 184 footnotes tracing the line of OLIVERs who came from Ballyrea, Co. Armagh and ended up in the linen industry at Laragh, Co. Monaghan. Check them out by clicking on What's New on November 11th http://thesilverbowl.com/misc/whatsnew.htm There are also links to families in Co. Down & Co. Tyrone. As always, I appreciate the help of those with eagle eyes who spot errors and let me know (so I have the opportunity to correct them!). This includes the small things such as typos and spelling mistakes (or grammar) but also larger issues such as incorrect facts or assumptions. Please let me know how this page works for you. I recently located the newspaper announcement for the death of the oldest Linn I can trace in the US and it says he was a native of Co. Tyrone. He died in 1868 in his 73rd year so that would make him born about 1795. His name was Peter. His sons that were also in Baltimore (but born in Ireland) were Bernard (born betw 1815-1823), Charles (born betw 1832-1839), Terence (born abt 1839), and Michael (born betw 1824-1835). The names Peter, Bernard, Margaret, Mary, Charles, Francis and John appear often in the sons' children. I have found Bernard in Baltimore as early as 1848, Charles in 1857, Terence in 1864. Terence Linn married a daughter of John McCall (McCaul), who was also born in Co. Tyrone about 1806, and was in Baltimore as early as 1835. The only clues I have so far as to where in Co Tyrone they were from are where the Linn(Lynn) and McCall names both appear. So far the civil parish of Killeeshil, townland of Cranlome, Barony Lower Dungannon is a possibility. I have corresponded with a Lynn descendant in Scotland who has found her ancestors- Bernard, Terence, Patrick and Peter in Shanomaghry, which she says is close to Cranlome. We think they are all related. Patrick Lynn was in Stirling in Scotland as early as 1851. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hello, In 1859 when your great grandfather was 8 years old there were 2 Wilson households recorded in the townland of Dyan,Aghaloo the head of one being James Wilson and the head of the other William Wilson. It might be reasonable to assume that one of these men was your great great grandfather and the other closely related maybe a brother or even the father a possible great great great grandfather. I think you should look at the Aghaloo Church registers of baptism and marriage. best regards Robert www.ulsterancestry.com > From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com > To: NIR-TYRONE-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2007 19:13:37 +0000 > Subject: Re: [NIR-TYRONE] Tyrone/Donegal genealogy > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: bes1945 > Surnames: wilson > Classification: census > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.tyr.general/2346.66/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Hi .I am trying to research the wilson family who resided in Dyan Co Tyrone. 1. [NIR-TYRONE] Parish Maps
    2. Murray Lynn
    3. When I wrote the map software I built in a number of features but didn't provide access to them, the new features now available include: * parishes can be grouped by Barony, PLU, District Council and RC Parish as well as by county. Selecting a parish within a group no longer shows parishes of the same name in other groups, however (apart from counties), parishes which cross boundaries are shown in both places. * you can also select from a alphabetic list of parishes. In this case all parishes of the same name in NI are displayed (eg Ballinderry in Tyrone, Antrim and Derry). * for added clarity the parish outlines are drawn in black if the map is displayed and yellow if a satellite photo is displayed. These colours persist until the page is reloaded (f5). * there is an expanded section below the map listing references and with additional notes * on loading the webpage, the message "map loading" appears while the data is being downloaded. You will see that there are now two pull down menus at the top center of the map. The menu on the left allows you to select the grouping (the default grouping is by county as before and so you can ignore this step if you want to) and the menu on the right changes to reflect your choice. In the right hand list you can either click on a parish to show just the parish or click on the name of the group to show all parishes within the group. I have also rechecked the database and corrected some spelling and location errors. Please let me know if you come across any issues. To clarify access to the map - click on the link at the foot of this email and then click the link to "Ulster Map" (or the photo of the Londonderry coat of arms). There is a Help button at the top right (now highlighted in red) which will lead you to a brief explanation of how it works, however it is far easier to use than to describe and so the best thing to do is to 'play' with the features - nothing can go wrong!! Displaying all parishes in a county can be slow and so avoid this with a slow computer. Please contact me know if you spot errors, if I can alter aspects to make it more useful for you or for suggestions of additions. I am still hoping to extend the map to cover the rest of Ulster, but have not found the equivalent (detailed 1" to the mile) maps of townlands to base it on. Lastly, thanks for the feedback - some of which I still have to follow up - it is great to hear from you and especially to hear from the many experts in this area! -- Kind Regards Murray Christchurch New Zealand Visit us at KiwiCelts.com <http://kiwicelts.com> * Cemeteries of New Zealand - Map, List and Web-links * Parishes of Northern Ireland - Map * Our Family History

Firstly, it appears that my grandma's maiden name was Johnston, not Johnson. The birth entry for 4th October 1913 states that she was born in Blackhill, Cookstown. Secondly, it appears that her mother was called Kate McAteer (not entirely sure where the name Catherine Leviston came from that appears on the confirmation of baptism, although Catherine can obviously be shortened to Kate). We also found a death entry for Kate in 1914 which fits in with what we already know about her. If you would be so kind as to check the parish records to see if there are any further information I would be extremely grateful.
