    3. Am I still a part of the group researching Co. Tyrone where I think my Burnside families lived? ----- Original Message ----- From: Donal O'Kelly To: nir-tyrone@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2007 6:10 PM Subject: Re: [NIR-TYRONE] McCann Actually this is an outgrowth of the first Tyrone website that went up in 1995 and carried the USGenWeb banner. It was sponsored by USGW because at that time IGW had not until later in early 1996 started. But it jumped around a bit, sponsored by IGW, then taken by NIGW, then sponsored by SIR then back to me where it was sponsored by IGP. So though the sponsorship jumped around, the mission of the Tyrone website did not. Now I spend as much time on it as I can while keeping an eye out for a very good County Coordinator to finish building the site. My main site is Roscommon IGP and interests are supporting the Ireland Genealogy Project Archives. Consequently I wish I could spend a lot more time on those two projects. I wasn't involved in NIGW at all and, in retrospect, they carried a lot of baggage in negative PR, and way too much politics as well, and just never got started the way it should have. One cannot have a north ireland website and delve into north ireland politics too.....it just doesn't work. Is that the other Tyrone website you speak of, or a newer one I don't yet know about? 3. To add to the former comment, we are getting so deep into special projects like tombstone, BMD and other types of databases, that it is just too much work for one person to be everything to everyone. Add to that the new Ireland Genealogy Archives and such progress calls for specialty coordinators...one or more to generate cemetery transcriptions, another group to develop county level BMD records, another group to track down and transcribe land records, and the beat goes on. We could literally use 100 new special coordinators right now, and later on a thousand. no single person and no small group can do it all, so for those interested, pick a specialty of your interest, step forward and volunteer. While at it, remember to provide your Tyrone family records so everyone on the internet can help you. Together we can do this. donkelly ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donal O'Kelly" <ocollaugh@comcast.net> To: <nir-tyrone@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2007 4:41 PM Subject: Re: [NIR-TYRONE] McCann > Sure are.
