I am in no way related to you, but I thought perhaps you might find this interesting. I have a copy of a deed, originally dated 22 May 1866. The sale was made by Chittick Verner to Edward O'Donnell and Patrick Carroll for a "lot or piece of ground" on the north side of Christian street in Philadelphia, at a distance of 460 feet west from the west side of Muller street. The property was between Gray's Ferry avenue and the Schuylkill river. None of the streets mentioned in the deed carry the same names now (other than Christian street), but I found the property on a Baist map of 1895, and one of the streets was called at the time (1895) Verner street. It is now called, I think, Taney street. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NIR-TYRONE] Quinn and McSorley
    2. Quinn FamilyTree
    3. Hi Listers, First of all I hope I am doing this correctly. I'm looking for the parents of Owen Quin(n). He was born in approximately 1804, married in approximately 1840 to Catherine McSorley. They come from Ardstraw near Newtown Stewart, County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. According to shipping records they were farmservants there. They caught a ship from Liverpool, England in 1841 with other Bounty Migrants on the Cadet. Owen's parents according to his death certificate are Edward Quin(n) and Jane Judge. However we believe this to be incorrect as it was information supplied by a grandson. The shipping records provided by Owen state his parents as Terrance and Sarah. Catherine's parents are listed as Thomas and Mary. I was wondering if anyone could help me find a marriage certificate for Owen and Catherine, circa 1840 or a Birth certificate for Owen circa 1804 or later . Thank you all in advance. Darren

They lived in Pettigo, but are buried in Derg Cemetery Parents of Isabella are said to be Gilbert Mathewson and Annie Wylie. Gilbert or Gilly died in 1820. There appears to be an inscription available through Irish Genealogy. Is there anything available online that I could access? Thanks, Virginia

    1. [NIR-TYRONE] JOHN and MARY KERR from Dungannon, and their children born 1820s/1830s
    2. Lois Moore
    3. Hi Listers, I am fairly new to research into IRISH ancestry, with my previous line having been mostly Scottish. BUT now the censuses from Glasgow point to this family having their births in Ireland, and I have received information from another correspondent with the same family-line who believes that they were all born at DUNGANNON in county TYRONE. This info seems to have been passed down as family 'memory'. Here are their names and approx. birth-years as derived from the censuses:- JOHN KERR - probably born 1790 -1795 MARY KERR - born 1791-94 .................her maiden-name was BOICE And the children:- - JAMES KERR born 1815/16 - ELIZA KERR born 1820/21 - ISABELLA KERR born 1822/23 - JANE KERR born 1824/25 - JOHN KERR born 1828/29 - MARY A. KERR born 1830/31 I do not know what Church records there may be from Dungannon at this period, but I am hoping someone may have access to them to be able to find whether any of this KERR family are baptized there? I do know that when they reached Glasgow, this family was very strongly in the Protestant/ Episcoplian religious tradition, not Catholic, so I guess this would indicate what church records would be applicable. ALTERNATIVELY, there may be listers out there who recognize this actual family fro their own line, and can give me more information about them. I can also be contacted on my direct email moore_gen@myinbox.net.au Thanks for any help Lois Moore (Melbourne, Australia)

    1. [NIR-TYRONE] Wills.
    2. Hi Listers, On more than one List, I have been discussing exactly what is available as regards wills and I have had lots of replies from various people but there seemed to be no clear consensus as to just what WAS available and where. Maybe I was just being stupid. Until recently, when it revamped its website and made the Calendars of Wills (brief but useful summaries) available online, even PRONI was not clear about what had survived the Four Courts fire. However, their new site is much more definitive when it states: Unfortunately the original wills of the Principal Registry up to 1904 and of the District Registries up to 1899 were lost in 1922 when the Public Record Office of Ireland in Dublin was destroyed. However, the copies of wills that were made by the District Registries survived as they had not been transferred to the Public Record Office in Dublin. These copies of wills were written into large volumes - those for the District Registries of Armagh, Belfast and Londonderry are held in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland. They are currently being digitised. So, you can see these "copies of wills" at PRONI and you can now see the Calendars of Wills online at the PRONI website. Belfast is not that close for many of us so I decided to look at some films mentioned on the LDS site, which could have been these "copies of wills" for the Derry Diocese for the period 1858 to 1899, or they might just have been just the Calendars of Wills for that period. The description was not clear, and more to the point, I was still labouring under the impression that all wills before 1900 were destroyed and not available anywhere. The film has now turned up at my FHC in Derry and I can now happily report that the full copies of wills made by the District Registries are indeed on these films. The Derry District covered Donegal, Derry and Tyrone, so you can order the films from your local FHC for less than three pounds and view wills made between 1858 and 1900. This is the LDS webpage: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?dis play=titlefilmnotes <http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?di splay=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=230037&disp=Londonderry+distr ict+will+book%2C+18582> &columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=230037&disp=Londonderry+district+will+book%2C+185 82++ or: http://tinyurl.com/2kkroe And this is taken from the LDS website: Note Location Film Wills 1858-1864 FHL BRITISH Film 930300 Wills 1864-1871 FHL BRITISH Film 942216 Wills 1871-1875 FHL BRITISH Film 942217 Wills 1875-1879 FHL BRITISH Film 942218 Wills 1879-1885 FHL BRITISH Film 942219 Wills 1885-1889 FHL BRITISH Film 942220 Wills 1890-1892 FHL BRITISH Film 942221 Wills 1892-1895 FHL BRITISH Film 942222 Wills 1896-1899 FHL BRITISH Film 942223 For those with access, Derry Probate Office in Bishop Street also has copies of wills from 1900 to date. 1. [NIR-TYRONE] Semple
    2. virginia miller
    3. With the help of several people on this list, I have been able to proceed with my Semple family history. I now know that my gg grandfather, William Semple, married Isabella Mathewson, daughter of Gilbert Mathewson and Ann Wylie, 1832 in Casltederg. William and Isabella died in 1844 and 1843 in Pettigo and are buried in Derg Cemetery. They left 3 young daughters: Ann, Hannah and Matilda who were raised by their uncle, John Semple, at Straw House in Bovevagh, Derry. I know William Semple, born about 1806, to be the son of George Semple and Martha Edwards. William's grandparents were George Semple and Sarah Given, daughter of James Given. This latter George was the brother of a John Semple of "Mullenabrien" according to the Edwards pedigree. Since these seem to be landed families, I am wondering if John Semple might be the Major John Semple who, according to the Londonderry Sentinel, died at his residence, Castletown, December 14,1842, age 79. His wife was Hannah, who died July 2,1857 at Strabane, age 80 years. I would be delighted to hear any ideas about how to pursue this possibility. My hope is to find a Semple pedigree. I found listed at PRONI a pedigree for the Mathewsons of Ardstraw. I hope it will give me some new information on that line of my family. Regards, Virginia

It is an a-z index by surname of all those enumerated in Tyrone and extracts much of the actual entry but also give the FHL microfilm reference so that you can look up the original household entry in its entirety.
