I would be very interested in learning of the family of Samuel and Mary Fleming. John Cobean-1820, and Hannah Fleming-1821, were married in 1841, in Ontario, thus I would estimate Hannah Fleming was born ca 1800. You will find a list of ministers here:- http://tinyurl.com/33zt37 One of my distant cousins applied to the minister for Aughnacloy and Ballymagrane for information on her relative who lived in Killyneery a townland sharing a common boundary with Skey. 1. [NIR-TYRONE] Augnacloy Presbyterian Church Records
    2. Jim White
    3. Hi List: Several weeks ago, I posted re records for Augnacloy Presbyterian Church BMD Records. Theresa Forsyth responded re what BMD records are available, in what years, at PRONI. Jan Hunt responded with many records from her Cobean family tree, located many years ago. Among these records, I believe, are the Baptism for my great grand father, John Cobean(Cobain), of Skey TL, on 06 Jan 1821. I am quite certain that this is my John Cobean/Cobain, as he was born on 24 Dec 1820, 2 weeks before. The father shown is Thomas Cobean, which was the father of my John Cobean. Also shown, was the marriage of Thomas Cobain and Elizabeth Cobain, both of Sky, in 1818. I believe this is the marriage of my gg grand parents, as John's father was named Thomas, and the marriage in 1818, was ca 2 years before John's Birth. I just located a document, that said John was the eldest child of Thomas and Elizabeth, when they applied for an Ontario Land grant on 04 Mar 1824, thus they must have emigrated to Ontario in 1823, as they could not have arrived during the winter of 1821, as the St Lawrence would be frozen, until ca May 1824. Thus, in summary, there appears to be records at Augnacloy re BMD's of Cobains/Cobeans of Skey. Relative to Augnacloy BMD records: 1) Do they only exist at PRONI ? If so, how do you request they be researched ? It is not obvious from the PRONI Web Site. 2) Are these records also available at LDS ? If so, would anyone know the applicable Reel #, for SKEY BMD's from ca 1525-1825 ? 3) Would it be possible to search these BMD Records in Person , as I will be visiting Tyrone in mid Sep ? If so, could someone kindly advise the name and address of the Pastor, who is in charge of these records ? In particular, I am interested in searching the records for: a) Baptism of John Cobean ca 1753. Also the marriage of this John Cobean/Cobain, ca 1775-1792. b) Baptism of Thomas Cobain, ca 1793 c) Baptism of John Cobain ca 1794 d) Baptism of John Cobain 06 Jan 1821. e) Baptism of Priscilla Cobain ca 1823 f) Baptism of Alexander Cobain, ca 1812 g) Baptism of Agnes Nancy Cobain ca 1821 h) Baptism of other Cobain children, of Skey, with father John and wife, possibly Priscilla, ca 1790-1818 i) Marriage of John Cobain & Priscilla Unknown, ca 1790, or possibly sooner j) Marriage of Thomas Cobean & Elizabeth Cobean in 1818. k) Marriage of John Cobane and Mary Jane Unknown, ca 1810 I would also like to go back at least one more generation, with the parents of John-1753 and wife (possibly Priscilla). Many thanks for all your help and assistance. Kindest Regards Jim White Naples, Florida

    1. [NIR-TYRONE] JOSEPH BROWN & ELLA CARR early 1800s
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: alygal_1 Surnames: BROWN, CARR Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.tyr.general/6600/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm taking a calculated guess that one group of my ancestors came from Co. Tyrone. JOSEPH BROWN and ELLA CARR had several children, all of whom went to America between 1849 and 1852. Joseph and Ella appear to have stayed in Ireland. All children are listed as being from "Ireland" in documents although there is a later reference to being from 'Northern Ireland". The Brown siblings settled in Colchester, New York and were farmers. There are indications that they were Presbyterians. Based on searching surnames in the counties and tithe lists I believe my BROWNS/CARRS came from Co. Tyrone, or possibly Antrim. Below is a list of the children who emigrated to America: Joseph Brown - b. Sept. 3, 1819 (married Anne Rolison) William J Brown - b. May 1823 (married Jane Davis) Robert Brown - b. March 1825 (married Sarah Davis) Isabelle Brown - b. August 1834 (married Charles Townshend) Charles Brown - b April 1836 Samuel Brown - b. abt 1842 Thomas Brown - b. October 1843(married Nancy Minerva Andress) I am from the Thomas Brown line who settled in upstate New York. He fought in the Civil War and later was listed as a farmer. There is no record of parents Joseph and Ella coming to America. I'm guessing they may have died and so all the children went to America. Based on birth years of the children I'm guessing Ella Carr would have been born about 1800. Would appreciate any information if you are connected with these families as I have hit a brick wall in research. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He worked as a baker in Eglish, but seems to have lost his business and relocated to Belfast in the mid-1890s. His father was Thomas Smyth, a farmer. William married Maria Johnston of Creevlogh, Dungannon, Tyrone in 1891. They had a son, William Alexander in 1895. This was William Smyth's second marriage and we think he had other, grown-up children. William died suddenly at some point between 1895 and 1901. I would like to trace the family tree further back, but I don't know William's date of birth or place of birth or his mother's name. Any information at all would be very welcome. She was the grand-daughter of Anna's brother John Cowan. There is a John Cowan who still owns one of two farms in Burndennet Tyrone. This is the original one where my family came from. Are you familiar with the 'Ulster Covenant'? If not, in 1912 all of those in Ireland who wished to remain Britsih and not go into a united Ireland signed a petition. There were half a million people signed it and you can view it on-line, including the original signatures. I did a search just and found four Craigmile's. All ladies. Two in Fintona and two in Belfast, i'm sure they would all be the same family. If you want to look, do a search for the 'Public Record Office Northern Ireland' and follow links for the Ulster Covenant. All of my people signed it, Elliott's, McConnell's, Cowans. Do you think you could look into it for me? You dont know how I would apreciate it. There are thousands and thousands of Craigmiles all over America now. Do you have Ancestry.com? I have all of my information on there. I think so too that if yours came from Northern Ireland that we are related. I have 5 Craigmile relatives from different branches of my family that are working together on this. I live in Indiana, one lives in California, One lives in Oregon, One lives in Washington State, and One lives in Ohio. Two of them whose ancesters came over in 1700s are related to our other 3 that came over in 1840s. If we had some names and dates and you were interested, we may be able to connect and we have so much information on the Craigmiles and pictures after they came to America. We would be very glad to share. My g-g-Uncle wrote a genealogical paper in 1928 about our family and that they came from Fintona, County Tyrone, Ireland. One! of my Craigmile family, the one that lives in Washington State went to Tyrone last year but did not have enough time to look for much. However they were having a funeral where she was at and they told her it was a Craigmile and the very last one that they knew of. Sorry Anna is my great grandmother [off grandmother]. Anna married John Mcconnell in 1865 so don't think Rachel would be her sister as the age gap for sisters seems a bit large, although not impossible. But they could be the children of her sister. The name Rachel rings a bell! However the problem i have at present is i don't even know the christian names of the Craigmile's that left Tyrone. I need to get in touch with the cousin in Londonderry to see what names she had in the diary, i would have thought there would be an address too. This diary was from about 50 years ago so would think they are the children or grandchildren of those that left Tyrone. How many Craigmile's are there in the States? There were not many in Tyrone and don't know of any there now, so i think any that originally came out of Tyrone are connected.
