His father's name was also Thomas and his mother's name was Sarah, but on his death certificate, her maiden name was fairly illegible - looks like "Consent, or Cousens" - something like that. Other than actually going over there, is there any way these registers can be searched on-line? Eric

Hi Jim So pleased you got that information from Rev Henderson, he was also most helpful to me But The St James COI cemetery is news to me I will have to look into that as well. The Church at Aughnacloy has been there foe along time I will have to hunt the information out for you but when I asked would this be the same church my ancestors married in 1858/1862 period he advised that part of it would have been and gave me the date for the oldest part will let you know Patricia New Zealand
Hi Jim The Ulster 1910 Towns Directory is online at http://www.libraryireland.com/UlsterDirectory1910/Contents.php It lists all the main towns/villages in Co Tyrone and the inhabitants are listed with their occupations for each one. Since 1910 is the date on the receipt, it is possible you might find him here. Good Luck Cheers Teri

Unfortunately, there is nothing in it for Newtownsaville or for Eskragh, let alone Corkhill. And going to Fintona and Omagh does not help. But thanks, it was a nice trip that it took me on. Thanks Teri, nice to hear from you. Hope that all is well. Beginning to work on the ancestry but it is more on the maternal side. Have found a Dillen way back when who married a great, great grandmother who became the limb on the tree for the long lost (for me) grandfather that I never knew existed: Clifford Herdman from Pennsylvania. Working on that while I await the Hounihan and O'Carroll connection from County Cork - grandparents some ways back and guess what, they got some Gahagan's in there too. Oh well, it is rather trying isn't it. But take it one step at a time. The Dillen, by the way, was born in Derry around 1800 to 1803. I will look up Michael J. Carroll and the Patrick Carroll connections or at least names. Patrick was a brother of Mickey, and they all came from that area - but so did a lot of other McCarroll's. McCARROLL (or CARROLL), Michael Joseph, born in Corkhill, Co. Tyrone, 1879; immigrated to San Francisco 1867 on the MS Eutruria, then returned to Omagh and Fintona, Co. Tyrone, where he became a merchant and auctioneer. He died in 1924 and was buried in Eskragh RC cemetery, in the family plot. In examining Patricia McSorely's A While With Your Own Ones, I noted a picture of a receipt, dated July 1910, made out to Patrick McCarroll of Larnaglare (sic) for merchandise from MICHAEL J. CARROLL, General Merchant. Would anyone know just who this general merchant was, and exactly where he was located in July 1910? My grandfather's place of business, which included spirits, was on Main Street in Fintona. It appeared that he did not return until about 1912, but we have no record of his return or have we seen any manifests with his name on them. Although I do not believe this would be "himself" the need to cover our bases. Regards, Jim Carroll
