    3. My ancestor was Sarah Quinn b. Co. Tyrone 1828. She was the daughter of Patrick Quinn & Alice Campbell. She married Patrick Devlin b. 1829 on the 9th September 1850 in the Clonoe Roman Catholic Church. Their children were Alice, Ellen, Isabella, Patrick, Mary & Elizabeth all born in Co. Tyrone. They came out to Australia on the "Beejapore" in 1863 & settled near Rockhampton, QLD. Their son, John was born in Queensland. Any chance Sarah could be related to your Patrick Quinn? 1. [NIR-TYRONE] MacKeyes and variants (also Key, Keys, Kee) on Sir William Hamilton holdings 1600s Strabane/Donegal
    2. Roy Keys
    3. Hi Listers, I am interested in the folloing names who are listed in the book "The Laggan Army" by McKenny as landholders in 1641 : Daniel MacKeyes Protestant, 80 profitable acres of non forteited land, Leased from Others in Barony of Strabane, County of Tyrone Protestant, 80 profitable acres of non forteited land, Leased from Others in Barony of Strabane, County of Tyrone Hugh MacKeyes Protestant 66 profitable acres of non forteited land, held by self, in Barony of Raphoe, County of Donegal John MacKeyes Protestant 66 profitable acres of non forteited land, held by self, in Barony of Raphoe, County of Donegal Richard MacKeyes Protestant 66 profitable acres of non forteited land, held by self, in Barony of Raphoe, County of Donegal There is also a James MacKie who held 45 acres of profitable land owned by himself in Raphoe, Donegal. The lands occupied by Hugh and John were within the grant of Sir William Hamilton, presumably the 3rd son of James, first Earl of Abercorn and holding the title of Baronet. I have further discovered that an article published recently deals with the Hamilton estate in Ulster (William Roulston, 'The evolution of the Abercorn estate in north west Ulster 1610-1703,' Familia 15 (1999) 54-67.) Does anyone have access to this journal and this article in particular? Can you point to sources (apart from the Abercorn papers themselves, at PRONI) which might shed light on these individuals, their ancestors and descendants? Thank you for your attention. Roy

    2. jj.carroll
    3. Would be very pleased if someone would do a look-up of the 1920 census for the McCarroll family in Fintona, County Tyrone. McCARROLL, Michael Joseph and Agnes Bridget Gaffigan Carroll. They had a place on the Main Street and their family included a number of children: Michael Joseph, Mary Catherine, Thomas Leo, Kevin Barry and Bernadette Anthony. They lived above the public house where he presided as well as sold shoes, coffins, and was an auctioneer. Mickey was to die four years later and was buried at Eskragh. Thank you, Jim Carroll

    3. Good morning Cliff: While we may all have been "soaped" from time to time by the various crews in Eire, Boyd left out one word, or it should have been modified. Change "sequestered" for "a copy of". In any event the UHF still has their records in tact. The catholic organization IFHF has a "copy" of the UHF files and is sepecializing in translating and "copying" all the Gaelic and Latin registers of the RC church into their files for their catholic clientelle. They should be done in 8 years. Eric As in all genealogical endeavours, The further back you look, The further back you see, The longer you work for something, The longer you wait for something. I wonder why. You don't think it mught be that they wish to have exclusive access to these records so that they can sell them at extortionate rates? There is only one word to describe that and I will not sully your delicate ears with it but it is the word that unsympathetic Nineteenth century clergymen sometimes used in their baptismal registers to describe the progeny of illegitimate relationships. Makes me want to spit. Regards, Boyd
