My ggf's brother, John George HAMILTON, was the reverend there at the time of his death. 4 Nov 1925. He had been Reverend there twice, the last time for 14 years. I would like to contact them to get information and pictures, if possible, both of him and his grave marker. His younger brother, Samuel HAMILTON was also a minister but I don't know where, at some point he immigrated to the US. Rev John George's wife, Sia Marion Nicholson HAMILTON may also be buried there, I don't know when she died. They had one son that I know of. Alan Livingston HAMILTON, b 1900, Liverpool, England He attended Campbell College in Belfast in 1917. Any info/suggestions would be greaatly appreciated. L. Richardsons wife, please???? We can only guess at her age from the Canadian census record of 1906 when she was 32? Born 1872 or 1873 Wales. I tried to establish whom her parents might have been and when she was born but I am not satisfied I ever succeeded. However we did find out that her sister a Mrs. Hickson wife of the manager of the Hudson Bay Company in Battleford was also living out in Saskatchewen Canada which suggests they may have met in Canada and perhaps her family had emigrated-only guess work. Otherwise no idea if he met her in Battleford,Sask.or before. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have been to Newtonstewart in the past few months and I have seen where my grandfather George McCollum was born at Crosh House. His father was Andrew McCollum and I believe he died about 1916. I know George's sister Margaret (Maggie)married a James Kerr McCollum and lived on a farm opposite about where the hotel Mellon has been built. The house has been knocked down.I have info that this farm was called Carrigans. Do you know the names of the McCollums your Grandmother worked for. My Grandfather left Newtonstewart for Australia after he married Sarah Bartley from Bradkeel in 1912. If you can think of any more info I would love to hear about it. Regards Jenny Valentine Sydney Australia. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: hmkinney Surnames: McCollum, McFarland, Mckinney Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.tyr.general/6561.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, I believe the house they lived in is still standing (just)My grandmother (McKinney) was a servant, she came to the house to work when she was approx 13yrs old, she spoke little english as she was a native Irish speaker, several other girls form her area in Donegal came as well. I think this was around the 1920's - I think most of this McCollum line died out, however I remember one man coming from Belfast to fish in the nearby river who was McCollum and related to the family who originally lived there. By way of co-incidence the farm and house is now owned by a family called McFarland who were probably related.
