There are several Morris' listed in Griffiths Evaluation in Termonamongan parish. Townlands of Ardarver, First Cogary, Second Corgary and Garvagh Pullans. Names include, Michael, James, Peter, Eliza and Owen (no William though). Griffiths carried out the survey during the 1850's so it was likely that one of the above was a parent of a teenage William prior to his marriage. Do a Family Name search here and include the county and parish. http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/gv4/gv_start.php Check the Details, Original Page and Map (takes a bit of zooming and searching to find the Townland). If you can't find the townland look for the link to a second map at the bottom of the map page. My guess is that William was the son of one of the above. ---------------------------- Barry Graham Melbourne, Australia

Do please send me what you know, I would very much appreciate it. What I know about my Morris ancestors is very limited indeed, except that my great grandmother was Bridget Morris and that she married my great grandfather David McCrory sometime shortly before 1872. As their eldest son Patrick was born in 1872, I would guess 1871. They lived in or near to Crock. Seamus.... Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Their son, Peter, was born December 1, 1861 and baptized at St. Patrick's within a few weeks. There was no information on William's parents. Is Termonamongan near Bodeny or Crouck Morris? William, 30 and Rose, 29 (both list coming to US in 1865) had the following children in 1870 census living in Philadelphia: Peter, 9 Mary A., 7 (born at sea) Patrick, 5 William, 3 Hugh, 10 months. Sometime after this they moved to a farm in Darby, PA which eventually became Yeadon, PA. The house was in the family until the early 1970s. They were married on 23 Jan 1870. She was born in PA then moved to IA then back to PA after marriage to Farrell. After his death moved back to Iowa and married a William Brown Hall. The original wooden shopfront was acquired by the Ulster American Folk Park in the mid 1980's, and has been reconstructed as part of our Ulster Street display. We plan to fit out the shop as it would have been in the early 1900's - Murrays was trading as a grocer and draper at the time.
