Hello and Season Greetings to all on list. As stated in the Subject line, I wish to establish if the name is of Irish origin. Or if it could have arrived from some Mediterranean country, the reason I ask this is that descendants of this family have an Olive skin. The person in question is a James CARVEL born about 1814 in County Down. He married I believe Elizabeth HART born about 1815 in County Down. Their first child Margaret CARVEL was born about 1835 in Ireland. They eventually move to the Isle Of Man 1843 and 1845, with other children.
