Hi Listers, I am still trying to find any details of possibly Michael, possibly James LYNCHEY. Probably born in County Down late 1700's and who may have gone to the Isle of Man with his family in the 1820's. His wife, Sarah, was sentenced on the IoM along with a son Thomas in 1833 to be transported to OZZ. They went on separate ships, she took 2 daughters and a son with her. The Indent of convicts on the Mary III states that she was a widow, aged 50 years, born in County Down and Catholic. There is a "Dissenter Baptism on the IoM in 1826 with the parents a Michael LYNCHY and Sarah MULLAN, also the possible deaths in 1833 during a cholera outbreak on the IoM of her husband and a son. I have found on Ros Davie's site a reference to a conviction in County Down of" Lynchey, Straney & Mechan, for stealing timber the property of David Ker, Esq. of Montalto, to be burned in the hand". Could any lister link this LYNCHEY to the one I am looking for? I have not been able to find any LYNCHEY's, trying several spellings, in either the NI or the Republic White Pages on line. On the LDS site I have found 2 Sarah MULLANS born in Down during the mid 1780's. These are possible candidates to be my GG grandmother. Any assistance will be much appreciated. Cheers Peter Melbourne
