We all have these sheep somewhere in our past. Now you have me hooked too! Does anyone have Ancestry.com access subscription? I found this and my experience is Norfolk accent spellings. Perhaps the south had the same problem as Latta/Latte/Lattey/Lattie etc are all the same. In 1851 she has six children and is unmarried. When I checked the 1861 census she is married and 6 children are listed. The two now have the widower's names added as middle names.
