Sometimes the will is there complete but other only have the indices showing that a will was written and probated. Generally speaking all original wills prior to 1858 were lost in the Dublin fire in 1922 but the indices often contain a fair amount of genealogical information. This is from the 1860's era. Thanks for any light you can throw on this subject. The wills are located using the Will Calendars in the reception area if you are visiting. Pre-1858 wills were lost in 1922 some indices do exist and are also held by PRONI. They contain useful genealogical information. ----- Original Message ----- From: <debbyel@comcast.net> To: <nir-down@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 02, 2007 3:00 PM Subject: [NIR-DOWN] Where to search for a copy of a will > Hello, > I believe the following will transcription is my great great > grandfather, > James Kirk of Ballybeen. Would a copy be held with the original Lawyer who wrote the Will initially? If so, would the Court REcords helping in finding who what was or is there some other way to find out who the Lawyer may be?
