Dear Diane, finding his birth registery in the Civil Registers are something I thought of, sadly I know not where in County Monaghan (if at all), I am unfamiliar with the geography of Ireland as well, and I doubt if it will mention County Monaghan in the registers, only the nearest town he was born close to!
